There is no magic drug or pill that automatically keeps your brain at the peak of its power; however, consistency in eating certain foods can help enhance and maintain the health of your brain.

Nutritionists and other experts point out that the best food for the brain is those that protect the heart and blood vessels and have thus recommended some of the following as the best foods for the brain:

  1. Walnuts

Nuts are excellent sources of healthy fats and protein, and the Walnut, in particular, is deemed beneficial to memory. A study carried out by UCLA in 2015 linked higher consumption of walnuts to improved exam and test results. Walnuts possess high levels of a type of Omega- 3 fatty acids (referred to as alpha-linolenic acid). Diets that are rich in this acid have also been linked to cleaner arteries and lower blood pressure. This makes them beneficial to both the brain and heart.

Berries usually contain flavonoid antioxidants, which research indicates that their presence makes berries excellent food for the brain. Generally, antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which are beneficial to brain health.
