5 Foods To Avoid For A Healthier Lifestyle

By Ruby M

Guess what? Not everything in moderation is always okay. According to many nutritionists around the world, there are five specific foods which should be completely cut out of your diet for health reasons and to live a happier life. Even if they taste delicious, your body will thank you in the long run if you avoid them.

Processed Meats

Sodium and saturated fats (not the good kind) are highly present in processed meats which are often packed with unhealthy chemicals, dyes, and preservatives that can be detrimental to your health. Processed meats are directly linked to illnesses like high blood pressure, heart disease, and even bowel and stomach cancers.

Donuts

Someone once said that even crystal meth is healthier than a doughnut. Now, we are of course not telling you to have meth instead of a doughnut. However, a single doughnut contains a quarter of the amount of saturated fats that one person needs in one day. The fat content in a donut is equivalent to that of three cookies. They are laded with sugar, and don’t even fill you up. Rather enjoy a nice slice of cake that has less sugar than this fried piece of confectionary.

Sweetened Breakfast Cereals

Sugary breakfast cereals are high in refined grains and sugar which if consumed too frequently can lead to several diseases including diabetes and heart disease. Carbohydrates cause an increase in food cravings, and sugary cerearls are loaded with them.

Fruit Juice

Most fruit juices contain a high sugar and calorie content which can cause immense weight gain which can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity.  Fruit juice is mainly empty calories, and most of the nutrients have already been voided from pasteurization.

Pretzels

A real wolf in sheep’s clothing; Pretzels are not the healthy alternative to potato chips that we have been led to believe all along. Pretzels have a high salt content, and are packed with refined carbs – so you might as well be consuming a bag of crisps instead of thinking you are choosing a healthier option.
